HOWTO: libdc1394
Description: Library for controlling 1394-based digital cameras

NOTE: I use GNU tar >= 1.13.25 so it's -j for .tar.bz2 files,
it's safe to assume that make, gcc, binutils, fileutils/coreutils, gawk, sed, and grep are prerequisites for almost everything

 wget http://download.sf.net/libdc1394/libdc1394-1.2.2.tar.gz
mkdir -p -m 0700 src
cd src
find -maxdepth 1 -type d -name "libdc1394-*" -exec rm -r {} \;
tar xzvf ~/libdc1394-1.2.2.tar.gz
cd libdc1394-1.2.2
test $UID = 0 && chown -R root:root .
./configure
make

# Become root to install it
su

rm -f /usr/local/lib/libdc1394_control.*
make install
ldconfig

# Become yourself again
exit

cd
mkdir -p -m 0700 installed
rm -f installed/libdc1394-*.tar.*
mv libdc1394-1.2.2.tar.gz installed/


# If you ever want to uninstall libdc1394, this should do it:
