- Updated notes about apps that are linked to zlib's shared
and static library
- Replaced note about cleaning up the
/var/adm/packages/*elflibs* file with a blurb that'll do it
for you (if libz is in there)
- Replaced links to textutils with links to coreutils
Jan 26, 2004 - Added zlib 1.2.1, leaving 1.1.4 at the bottom for now
- Remove old /usr/lib/libz.so.* files, not /usr/lib/libz.*
files (including libz.a - oops) (the first item was noted
earlier today, this one refers to a change I made in it)
Sep 24, 2003 - Moved 'removepkg zlib' further up, after the first run
of make (the one that creates the static lib), otherwise
removepkg will remove the static library and wouldn't
get reinstalled. This would've broken things like
modutils building with zlib support. (unless you went
through the howto twice, then it would fix itself)
Sep 12, 2003 - Note about removing libz.* from elflibs file
Sep 11, 2003 - Create ~/installed with mode 700 (in both places)
- Minor change to the part that applies the patch, including
not re-downloading it (wget -nc) if applying it fails
Jul 26, 2003 - Added a patch from the zlib site
- Added a note/link to the list of apps that use it
Mar 25, 2003 - Modernized the howto: home page link, removal of old
versions, reusing of existing tarball, etc.
- Added verification of tarball w/ md5sum
Jun 25, 2002 - First entry
